Granite

Granite is a type of igneous rock, formed deep under the ground as a result of the cooling process of such minerals as feldspar and quartz, which crystallize and congregate during the process. Some granites are made up of relatively big crystals, others consist of tiny particles.

Natural granite has some advantages in comparison with its artificial alternatives. The texture and color of this material is absolutely unique. Besides, granite is probably the most wearproof, endurable and strong construction material, resistant to all kinds of weather conditions.

There are lots of peculiar ways of processing granite. We produce polished, honed, flamed, brush hammered, rough picked, chiseled and natiral split granite items. A polished surface finish is shiny and reflective. It is as a glossy as a mirror. The full color, depth, and crystal structure of the stone is visible. Polished granite has a richer color than any other type of finish. A honed surface finish is a smooth surface without reflection. In comparison to polished granite it has a matte like appearance. Bush-hammered finishes are achieved by a mechanical process and can vary as much as the granite itself. They are most suitable for wall cladding, roofing and flooring applications. Flamed granite is roughed by heat and exposes the grains of the stone. It is most popular in flooring. Saw cut stone is cut with a diamond blade. Depending on the stone type the blade will leave slightly to highly visible saw marks on the surface sometimes requiring sanding the stone to make it smoother. Chiseled granite is processed by putting small irregular chips on to the surface of the stone. Chiseled surface is a little bit rougher than bush hammered. It can be used vertically or on flat walking areas but typically not used on interiors except on walls. One of the most interesting type of granite finish is natural split. It reflects the natural beauty of the stone the most. It is normally hand-made and used for exterior decoration.
